Samarkand is at the perfect intersection of East and West and the main city on the Silk Road. Filled with delicious musks, resins, patchoulis and incense it must have smelled fabulous. By the way, Samarkand is located in modern day Uzbekistan. It was a tremendous destination during the Middle Ages and much of the produce of the East reached Western Europe via trade in this city. Rich proprietary black musk, a thick addition of darkest black tea, knit together with a smooth but almost undetectable attar of roses (which is a catalyst for the whole). The most exquisite nag champa and finally topped off with a thick syrupy aged patchouli and a huge shot of incense. Very very potent stuff, very very sexy.

Oh this is so good. This oil smells exactly like an incense that I used to get from India in my school days. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name, only that it came in a red package and gold lettering. The sticks were hand rolled and super thick. The smell was so potent that just opening the package used to fill the room with its scent. I have lamented for years not being able to find anything that smelled close to that glorious incense. Since it was from India, I had no way to translate to find out what was in it. This was before the days of the internet. This perfume oil is fabulous and it lasts a good 12 hours on my skin. I can smell this on my clothing/coats/blankets for days. This is one of, if not the strongest perfume oil that I own. This stuff is potent indeed and not for the faint of heart. You definitely make a statement when you wear this one!

This is such a mysterious and sexy perfume. A must have for any incense lovers.

Incense — very smooth, cool, and a little remote at first, it then deepens and unfolds as the hours pass. And it does last hours! I used to use nag champa oil. This is a more nuanced and complex replacement.
