Sweet and strong, but full of character, like a majestic big black cat! Buttery creme with a smooth caramel undercoat, bourbon vanilla (the kind with the tiny black specks), gourmet candy corn crushed and put in the mix, and a crust of burnt sugar with a crunch from some indefinable but thoroughly delightful source. All this with a kiss of cinnamon, a very small puff of clove, and one grain of allspice.

Preliminary notes: Is it gonna smell like a fall candle? Let’s find out. Much like High Tea, I initially got a free sample of this in my first Possets parcel, so this review was written when I tried the sample.
DH’s preliminary notes: Sounds like a movie night at my house when I was a teenager.
In bottle: So. Fucking. Buttery. I love it. The spices are a bit in-your-face, but I can live with that. This smells delicious. It does veer into fall candle territory a bit, but I’m not opposed to that at all. This is one hell of an autumnal gourmand.
DH’s thoughts: Certainly is pungent. Makes me think about food again, like some kind of cake. Maybe a pound cake. There’s something creamy in there too. And something like, a wood table?
On skin: Much the same, but the spices blend into the caramel and cream enough to calm down a bit. The caramel and cream notes never go plasticky or sour on me, which is fantastic. I immediately full sized this after skin testing. Love, love, love. This may very well be my holy grail caramel scent.
DH’s thoughts: Smells completely different on you. That smells like you’re eating a cake at your grandma’s house *points at sample vial*, and now it smells like bath bombs. It lost its potency. It lost all of its food notes. (This made me sad and I disagree with it, but scent is subjective. I don’t regret full sizing it and will wear the hell out of it regardless)
Verdict: 5 luscious Halloween treats out of 5. I absolutely adore this and want to bathe in it. Instant win for me.

To die for! I was told by my fiance that I “look like I should smell like gingerbread”, and so I set off to find the perfect scent! No description I could give would do this scent justice. Beautiful, caramelized bits of sugar, spicy and everything I could ask for. This is a wonderfully sensual, spicy and sultry scent that can’t be beat.

If I hadn’t just bought Gingerbread Whorehouse, I would be rushing to order the Big Black Cat. Like my cat irl, this one is all about the food. A first intense blast of gingerbread fresh from the oven ushers in all the scents of autumn evoked by lower-key spices one after another. Where Gingerbread Whorehouse is deep cake, the Big Black Cat is more complex and nuanced — in the good witch’s cottage, the cake has lemon buttercream drizzled on it and is accompanied by a steaming cup of chai. Even though it’s a sleety February day here as I write, I sense marshmallows and bonfires, crisp leaves underfoot and cinnamon sticks in cider. October in a bottle. Delicious!

Big black cat: off rip, this smells so much like fall candle. It’s very creamy with soft spices, but the caramel and vanilla are so nice. The cinnamon mixes really well with the spices making a great mix of both. It almost smells like gingerbread to me. It ever so slightly reminds me of decembrie 89. After a few hours I mostly get cinnamon and some spices. This is pure fall night vibes.

Another one I couldn’t wait for it to mature before rolling on…but do I regret it – HELL NO. To me I get an immediate blast of buttery heaven. Like lifting a freshly fried funnel cake up to your nose and huffing the sweet caramelized steam. I don’t get gingerbread, I do get clove and allspice breaking up the vanilla caramel into a more complex deep moody scent. It is a gourmand girlie’s dream. This will age beautifully and mature darker.
